beowulf0352,

To make our lives complicated SCO decided to install all of their software under /opt/K/SCO/... and create symbolic links from the locations we are used to, e.g. /etc/passwd to somewhere in that directory tree, e.g. /var/opt/K/SCO/Unix/5.0.5Eb/etc/passwd.

That report means that some of those symbolic links have been broken at some stage, perhaps by copying in another version of those files and overwriting the symbolic links. You can run custom -V thorough -x to automatically fix them, which it does by backing up /var/opt/K/SCO/Unix/5.0.5Eb/etc/passwd to passwd#, copying your version to that location, and then recreating the symbolic link.

You don't have to fix them. You can just stop the cron job that generates that report and forget about them if you wish.

Annihilannic.

Yes, Openserver yacked on and on about this type of thing. Not necessary to fix the sym links, its just a notification. Handy if you don't know WHY a link isnt working anymore, you can find it here. Unixware 7 does not do this. TG!
