Hi I have a Slimline Desktop gateway E-3200 it has a small 140 Watt power supply which has ceased to work I tried to replace the fuse no good anybody got any ideas where I could buy another??

Thanks Chris

The beauty of power supplies is they're all standard. You don't need to get a gateway brand power supply, just find another somewhere that will fit inside the case and is the same style as the gateway (at or atx style, though i'm 99.9% sure you've got an atx).

And just a note, in atx style systems, the motherboard decides whether or not the machine boots up, not the power supply or the switch. In other words, a faulty motherboard too can prevent a power supply from powering up.

i dont know if gateway pc's are like dell in the sense of their unique proprietary hardware but Dell pc's have unique power supplies that cannot be replaced or upgraded with aftermarket psu's

You may find it more advantageous to consider a case/power swap.
You will find other power supplies that will fit in the case, but they will be reduced capacity and running on the boderline of overload. Might be better to get another case with a larger supply, one that is more universal.

Thanks for your response guys.
fungusamongus is quite correct it is different from the generic power supply.
Dell have one very similar however the power and fan are located on the side panel instead of front and back as in the gateway. I am looking into taking the guts out of the dell and putting them into the gateway if all else fails.
I have considered swapping the box however the riser card creates a problem. I suppose if all else fails I could put a fan in the box and keep the power supply external! A computer needs to be functional before looking good.

oops - was looking at both dell and gateways on the site an I was thinking the slimline was a gateway. And no - I'm not promoting computergeeks.com - just a satisfied customer %-)
