I'm helping a friend turn up a used Elite 48 he bought for his business on E-Bay. ROM Version shows SP016 V.6.00 No documentation from the last owner and the original installer is no longer in business. SAT end user software connection attempt was futile so I went to the phone set for programming. The original programming configuration was apparently lost while in storage so I programmed the system starting with the First Initialization database. I have a few questions about enabling features that weren't on the old NEC systems I used to install. First question, How do you enable Caller ID? The system has a COID-4 card which the documentation says is CID capable. Do I need to program MB 1-1-78 CID Display Assignment for System to enter port no.s of the phones I need CID to appear on? What about CID Display Assignment for CO Line MB 3-44? The MIF Caller ID Assignment MB 7-3-04 programming is not clear as to what entry is appropriate. It will only let me enter 00 or 01. The MIFM-U10 card does not have the KMM installed on it as far as I know. Am I overlooking another memory block?? Second question, Is there a method to enable Dial 9 access direct to trunk group 1 without doing a bunch of ARS programming? I don't know why he wants this with only 3 working trunks, but he's the customer. Third and final question, what is the significance of the Fax Branch circuit on the last port of the COID card? I couldn't find an explanation of how that works. Any enlightenment would be appreciated. The system also came with an FMS-4 voice mail but I lost my copy of CoSessions years ago. I'll have to find a tech to set that up or get some good phone support. Good NEC techs, unfortunately, don't live in South Louisiana anymore. Thanks!

For CID, yes to MB 1-1-78, 3-44 is not necessary. Also, you need to check 1-8-08 (Class of service). Of the top of my head I think it is page 3 LK 3 or 4 you'll need to turn on. This is all that should be required, and the phone has to be programmed to ring of course. If the MIF does not have the KMM there is no need to program 7-3.

9 by default will access TG 1. You will just need to remove any trunks not in this group (put them in 00) with MB 3-03.

The fax branch feature basically just passes through the 4th line to where the 8th line would connect on the block. The advantage versus just "looping" the line is that it will show busy status on the system. If someone sends a fax the line will show busy and not allow anyone to use the line. However, if someone is already using line 4 the fax would not be able to send etc.. It doesn't give quite as much functionality as an external fax switching device, but close.

Concerning CoSession, I can try to dig up a copy unless someone else can point you to where you can get it.

Got everything programmed today and it works great. Thanks a million for the suggestions. I just couldn't get off dead center, I knew it was something simple I was overlooking. I was able to get VM working through the System Manager access, the former owner had not set any access passwords, thankfully. Thanks again and if you need any wireless or fiber help just e-mail me. Thanks again
