Hi Word Gurus,

My boss insists on having the same information repeated in several sections of the same document. (Not a good idea).

Is there some way to enter info in a table but have this displayed in several sections of a Word document so that if the contents of the master table is changed it's replica in various other places within the document are also updated (eg. by pressing F9).

Thanks for any help.

Regards, MH

Put the information in the document's Custom Properties. Then insert the field where you need to within the document. When you want to replace the information, modify it within the Custom Properties, highlight the document and hit F9. Your information will automatically change.

Hi Tony,

Thanks very much - the Paste special Link look great.

I experimented with,
Paste special > paste link
I found if I paste 10 pages, the master document only displays 1 and the pasted text does not fit in with the heading numbering.

I tried Insert > file > insert as link.
This fit in with heading numbering nicely.

Unfortunately in both above cases there is no warning given is the source content or file is deleted that you're breaking a link. Any cure for this?

Regards, MH

Huh? I am not following. The OP asks about repeating data (information) at multiple places.

"it's replica in various other places within the document are also updated "

Pasted text? Master document? Insert > file?

"Unfortunately in both above cases there is no warning given is the source content or file is deleted that you're breaking a link."

Link? What link have you made? If you insert a file, there is no link. There are ways to make the contents of a file a link, but what exactly have you done. This seems different from the original question.

You may also consider using INCLUDETEXT field, if you are trying to grab content from another file. However, I am confused as to what you are actually doing.

Are you trying to copying content information in multiple places, in the same document? Or trying to get information from another document?
