When a employee dials ext 22 it rings, and when they dial *22 the intercom speaker comes on. Is there a way to disable the * so that the phone will ring and not make the speaker come on?

The *XX activates speakerphone, no getting around that. Intercom plus (*) asterisk plus extension is how you page group and/or individual. Intercom plus extension (no *) is how you ring an extension and/or group. The way to disable the * is to tell the user to, you know, not dial it ;) I guess the best thing here is to ask just what do they *think* they are doing by dialing *? Is there something else they wish to achieve?

As I understand it, that is how the system is designed to work.

If someone dials *22, what is the desired result?

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

Would the following features be what you are looking for [ponder]

F13XX Manual Signaling (beep or ring)
F13*XX Manual Signaling (voice signal)

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

I think so Dexman, customer is an attorney and he dont want people paging his phone with voice. If an employee wants him, he wants his phone to ring no have the employee's voice on it. I will try the F13

just give them hot line buttons to him

ICM 22

and or a DND button

Well, some employee's don't listen well. You tell them to hit ICM 22 and they still will dial ICM * 22 if he don't answer.

I didn't get a chance to test this, but hopefully tomorrow i can.

If the employee can't follow instructions, fire his ass!
