Is this the proper forum to request web beginner info? If so, where can I get how-to descriptions of where/what folders to put web pages for a new web site? We have a W/2000 server running, with IIs service running. What non Microsoft technical websites offer this kind of info?

Thanks

Thanks, Jason! Great site. Do you or anyone else know of a description of the folder structure for IIS, i.e., what files go in what folders? How do the folders work together? Can you just write/copy HTM files to these folders?

Sorry for the basic nature of this.

Thanks

If you planning on making this a production site move it off of your C drive!! Think about it, running IIS opens a hole so a web browser can view files on your machine, now n theory there only suposed to have access to what you let them...but why take the chance?

Right click on the site in the IIS manager, click on properties, Select the Home Directory Tab, in there you can set where you want your site files to be stored.
