I administer a Definity G3csiV13 PBX. The president of our company has begun to receive many incoming fax calls to his telephone that he finds annoying and wants eliminated. He has a 6408D+ telephone. I do not know what the calling number is on the remote side and he is not here today. Does anyone know if there is there a way in the Avaya Site Administration software to be able to view calls received at his telephone and/or if there is a way to block calls to his phone from devices such as fax machines or specific telephone numbers? What I believe is happening is that someone is mistaking his DID line for a fax machine and keeps calling. Any help is appreciated.

Why not accept one of the offending faxes by transfering one to a fax machine, then call the sender using the CSID number at the top? I'm sure whoever is sending the faxes would appreciate knowing they've entered a wrong speed dial in their fax and you'll eliminate the nuisance calls. Educate them and they'll cease!

try list trace sta xxxx, drawback is that is ties up your terminal. But you will get the calling party information and route. guess it depends on how much time you want to spend or have to spend on getting the information. Or forward his number to a fax machine, but then that has drawbacks as well.

do you receive caller-id?
if so, what about using LWC messaging?
on page 2 of station form, LWC Log External Calls, set to y
and then add 2 buttons
msg-retr and next

it should log the last 10 calls made to the phone...

I had the same problem befor, and ifact it occurs once in a while. bottom line you can not do anything about it.

I say that because i assume you have a caller id, and the number calling is displayed on the user phone before they answer the call. and you don't need to use trace call or lwc coz the user can provide with the number :) ..

I support the 392 posting, and it is the only way to solve this.
