Hello guys. I really want to thank you again for your help solving some of my previous problems with Premier. I am absolutely thrilled and fascinated with studying and learning video editing.
As I have mentioned earlier, I have been slugging it out with not only an old version of Premier (6), but an older Celeron Processor, 37gbs of harddrive (which I have found is not enough), and only 352megs of RAM. I HAVE HAD IT!
I am going to go off the deep end and upgrade everything.
I have already purchased Premier Pro 2. I also purchased a Pinnacle (external) video capture device. Neither of these two things work worth a damn with my compu system,so I am going to invest in a new compu.

I am going to buy a money-is-no-object system, and built for the sole purpose of editing videos.
In talking to people, I find there are several options when considering which component parts to buy. Here's what I've got in mind:

PROCESSOR
Core 2 DUO E6300 1.86GHZ (or)
One of the several big Pentiums

HARDDRIVE
I figure I want at least 80gbs

RAM
At least 1gb, or would one card of 1gb + another of 512meg be a lot faster?

VIDEO ACCELERATOR CARD
I have no ideas here- need some suggestions

Can I get some input from you masters on the above? I certainly don't want to invest this kind of money and then have people tell me- "Oh, you should have bought this one instead of that one, it would have made a big difference".

Any/all advice will be be GREATLY appreciated!

Paul

First off a good tour of either tigerdirect.com or newegg.com would be good. Just look around and find what has the best specs for your budget.

Second I feel that you may want a bigger hard drive. I myself purchased a 250Gb external one for my videos, and it's seems to work wonderfully.

Now when it comes to video cards and accelorators for video editing I'm not sure what to tell you. If were dealing with gaming I could help you out, but I don't know if a graphics card will work the same way for you.

Finally RAM. I myslef have very little, running only 448Mb, so 1Gb should be good but if money isn't an issue it wouldn't hurt to have more. Other then that I don't really have to much more to tell you other then make sure everything you get is supported by your board, and it all works together.
