I am in desparate need of help! I am new to this and have been handed the NEAX 2000 IVS System Manual and for the most part the phones are a Dterm Series III (16 key...I think). I have departments that are wanting the ability to show whether other exts are on the phone or not. I have an NEC tech that is supposed to be helping however he has informed me that it is out of his scope and has referred me to a "senior tech" that I emailed my info to but he has not gotten back with me for 2 weeks now. The department is now asking everyday. Is there anything I can do - is there a command in CAT mode that gives me tha ability to do this?

how many extensions?

I would suggest a 32 button set with dss keys.

Each phone is wanting the ability to show if 4 other ext's are on the phone or not. It really should not be that complicated to program a phone to light up if another co-worker is on the phone but I cannot find anything on this no matter where I research and our phone communications company is acting like it is going to take an act of congress to get this done.

It's not difficult, But you are not coming to the table with a full hand.

Series E/I 16 Button only, have the ability to provide DSS/BLF by copying the station speed dial memory in CM 73 and 94.

32 button sets have what is called onetouch keys. These keys can be used as DSS/BLF keys.

If you just want display and dialtone of the extensions on the phone then assign the extensions on the buttons.

Hopefuly this covers you.

There's an FAQ here

Written by one of our esteemed gulars which tells you how to do this. With 16 key dterms you should have space to do what you want.

If you're having trouble programming it post back and we'll try to walk you through it.

Without a command manual in our possession, I feel lost. I do not know why our communications facility could not walk me through this. I have matched the CM 73 & 94 for the extensions that I am needing to program. However, I am new to all of this and with very little training on this system I feel like a fish out of water. I am uncertain where to go from here..............

As stated in the FAQ...

This does not work on dterm Series III. If you have Series E 16 button then assign 20 bins in 73 and 94 make sure they match.

To program the station number on the button press CONF key, the button you want programmed, enter the desired station number and CONF again.

Okay - I have done that and it read SET on my phone so I am assuming that it was done correctly. However, for the phones upstairs that I am needing to program it is not that simple. They have extensions already programmed in. Do I need to clear our those that are set and then procede?

Did it work for the original phone?

Yes if there is assignements against the buttons then you must program over or clear and program.

It did work on my phone. I was trying to program over however that did not work so I will work on clearing the phone buttons and re programming.

Thanks!!!

Okay - I take that back. It did read SET on my phone when I programmed extensions in. However when my boss is on the phone it is not lighting up on my button that I programmed that he is.

It is a DTerm Series III. (ETJ-16DC-2) is the number on the back of the phone.

Again this does not work on Series III sets you need another phone.

Well that is funny that you keep saying that however the girls upstairs have 4 ext's programmed in on the phone. 2 are not good exts anymore so they are wanting to swap those out for the 2 they need now. The other 2 are working and they can see when the department manager is on the phone as well as the other girl in the department.

It sounds like the other phones just have line appearances which is simply a matter of programming them with the extension numbers on the keys in Cmd 9000 (you will also have to set the ringing in 9001). The difference being you can't use the buttons as one touch dialling keys for those extensions.

OzzieGeorge~Thanks for all of your help! You have been a real life saver and a very valuable asset to this forum!

With the new Group Call key in the IPS you can have both DSS One touch AND answer ringing to that extension.
You have to have R10 on the IPS to support this though.
But this does give you both features under one key.
Much like the SIE key on the key system.

There are many more knowledgeable than me here. I just keep asking stupid questions until I have eliminated the options leaving only the answer.

I bow to the superior knowledge of the likes of Pave35 & Mextera. I'm just an old fashioned voice tech which the future is rapidly leaving behind.

Happy to have been of any help!
