We are switching Telephone Providers and the new provider only supplies loop start lines. Since I am connecting them to an Option 11c, ground start lines seem to work best (disconnect timing has always been an issue with Loop Start). Does anyone know of a device that can convert a Loop start to Ground Start line? The only thing I have found is a "Gordon Kapes - GS1" box.
Alternatively, is there a way to reliably use Loop start lines as trunks on a Meridian switch?

I look after a number of sites with Loop start lines. I think it's wise to make the RDB acces to "LIN" The other thing (and I can't quite remember the setting) is to check some of the timers in the RDB to do with the clear down limit.

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

I've never had any problems with loop start trunks. While they tend to be the exception, they're not uncommon either.

How many copper trunks are we talking about here? It may be more economical in the long run to go with a PRI.

Loop start lines uncommon? Really? Loops Starts are fine for outgoing calls, but the lack of disconnect supervision for incoming calls will tie up the line(s) for whatever time is specified in the config.

These lines are used primarily as a backup for WHEN THE PRI GOES DOWN. Replacing them with the thing they are backing up wont really work for this case!

I have to agree, if used certain applications they will not release. Voicemail is one
