We have a "Sales" voicemail box setup. I would like calls going to this voicemail box to ring at a particular extension first, if possible.

For example, when you dial our company's number and you type S a l e s it takes you to that voice mail box. Is it possible to get it to ring at another extension first and if no one answers, then go to the SALES voicemail box.

Thanks,
Perry

Setup the "sales" mailbox extension number as an adjunct.

Then assign a cover button for that number on which ever phone you want to ring.

Thanks kmefford,

Sorry, but I'm pretty new at this.

How would I setup the "sales" mailbox extension number as an adjunct?

I know how to setup a cover button just not the other part.

It will require a programming phone or a computer connected with WinSPM.

Sys Program
Sys Renumber
Single
Adjuncts
Enter old adjunct number (usually 73xx depending on initial dial plan setup)
Enter ext number for sales mailbox

This is assuming you are not trying to use a general mailbox or group calling extension for your sales mailbox.

I would first check to see if it is already setup as an adjuct or real extension port. If so try to do a cover button for that extension, it may work.

Hi,

I apologize in advance for my ignorance.

I do not have access to a management computer. I have been informed that it died a horrible death some time ago.

There seems to a "console" type of telephone in a server room but I have absolutley no experience with this setup.

If I could do this programming via a telephone set that would be easier for me.

I did try a simple cover button for the "extension" but it did not work.

If you have no way to print your system programming, a simple way to do this, if you have any unusued station ports, is to use one of them. Check to see if you have any telephone ports unused, plug a phone into it and dial your console operator, or any extension with a display, that will give us the extension number for the unused ports, then we can give you the steps to renumber that port to yor mailbox extension, then your simple cover button will work. Be sure you use the type of phone the module is designed for, e.g. on a 408 GS/LS/MLX module, use an MLX type phone, If your spare port is on an 012 or 016 Basic station module, you should use a plain old telephone like from home. Either type will work for your purpose and you will not need to leave the phone in the port.

Hello could someone please help here is my situation i have a magix3.0 i would like to have a way for the operator to be able to have a button on her phone that she can press which will make all phones ring on a incoming call and i also would like to have a btn on her phone when she leaves that the auto att picks up on first ring which i think would be a night btn howerver could you please advise on all phones ringing is ther a limit on how many phones i can have thank you

How many is ALL PHONES?

Also, is your area small enought that an OVERHEAD Bell could do the trick?

And, the question about how large is the area? That is, can a loud bell or two do the trick?

You can only COVER to 8 other extensions.

However, you can PICK UP from ANY NUMBER of extensions.

Therefore, if you had a couple of extensions with BELLS on them set to cover the MAIN CONSOLE, then anyone could do a PICK UP on the BELL EXTENSIONS.

That would be better than doing a pick up on the MAIN extension because "PICK UP" grabs calls on hold as well as ringing calls.

Does this sound like something that could work for you?
