Hi Group,

I just complete my MCSE+I and now I have need for CCIE. I
have joined group
because I must have CCIE in 30 days, maybe I can wait for
45 days, but no
longer. I want to finish before May starts, for I have
futbol league to play
in then. If I get the CCIE in 30 days, then maybe I try
for a second in the
next 15 days. I need to get CCIE so I can make a bigger
money. I hear this
is
a good group for to join.

The MCSE have many more tests so I think CCIE may not be as
difficult as I
hear. One day I pass two exams, one right after another for
the MCSE. This
is
also "Expert" level certification, just like
CCIE. Some people may not know
this, but a Windows server can be setup like a router. I
have done this many
times. I have very high IQ and can study sometimes 2 - 4
hours without a
break.

I see a question about a subnet mask. Is it necessary to
know the subnets
other than a 255.255.255.0? I have set these networks up
many times, and am
almost an expert with them. One time there were 4 of these
networks all
working through a windows box, and I did this in less than
2 hours, and this

include time it take to reboot servers.

I have bought a router on ebay for to help study with. I
want to use web
browser for to configure this router, but I cannot seem to
get it to come
up.
I use the telnet program (From a Windows Server :) to log
into this router
but
all there is a command line. It look almost like an old DOS
program. I hope
Cisco does not still emulate DOS when Windows has been
around many years.
This
could a big mistake for them.

If anyone need help on setting routers, let me know. I will
be willing to
help. Also, it seems Cisco allow test taker to look at
website during CCIE
exam. In the MCSE program there is no help available. You
must not look at
any
material while taking exam. I think it should be fun to
have a book open
exam.

Do you think I should get a Voice CCIE, or a Security CCIE
for the second
CCIE
I get. I am not familiar with the differences between them?
I did recently
set
up Security for Microsoft Vista, so maybe Security should
be the way to go.

Also I want to say to Darby. You seem like a nice man (i
hope you are man,
not
woman. if so i apologize). You should try for to relax a
little more and
take
care of your health. If you can't get CCIE this week,
you will be able to
get
it next week. I know sometimes you get in a hurry, but your
health is more
important than passing exam this week. Just make up study
on the weekend and
take exam the following week. You should trust yourself
more and not spend
so
much money on instructions. Do you have relationship with
your instructor?
You
seem very close.

One more question. What does HTH mean?

Holy crap...is this a joke? I guess I don't understand your sense of humor.
HTH (Hope This Helps---that's on the CCIE exam...)

Burt

And people wonder why CCIE wages are going down? If this guy can pass it in 30 days - I KNOW I'M PAYING MY CCIE'S TOO MUCH!!

Burt,

If it is not a joke - I would love to be there for the 8 hour hands-on, after all He does HAVE a router he bought on Ebay :) "I have bought a router on ebay for to help study with."

I hope he posts his score on his written exam - is the hands on still $1,200?

Must be a joke :) or Cisco will be laughing all the way to the bank with his money :)

I think this is a hoax...I remember seeing a similar post in another forum.

You are ready for it now. There is nothing we can add to your knowledge in this forum.
Genious......

Well, he does have a point. If you can pass the MCSE, SURELY you can ace the CCIE, no problem. Sweet dreams, don't let the bed bugs bite...

Burt

lol I have just come across this post and I am still laughing...

after all He does HAVE a router he bought on Ebay

I must admit that is so easy to buy a router from eBay, I got a Black and Decker one quite cheap :)

go take a mock lab or assessment lab and see how far along you are and what you need to work on.

internetwork expert has one for $99.00. Let us know how you did?

I have very high IQ and can study sometimes 2 - 4

break."

Heh heh...if you're studying for the CCIE, be prepared for months of studying at that pace. And you'd better buy four or five more routers. A couple of switches would be good, too.

This post surely can't be real.

Were you meaning CCNA instead of CCIE? I don't care how smart you are, you're not getting the CCIE in 30 days. But if you had the time to study, you could get the CCNA in 30 days.

Best I ever heard was no experience to CCIE in 1 year. I think that would be a little tough but it could be done. Granted the guy had nothing else to do all day long except study and was mentored by Cisco specifically for this task.

The funny thing is the CCIE is only a certification that says you can build a network the way you would never build a network.. It blows my mind with some of the labs they come up with. Anyone in their right mind would never build a network the way those labs are setup.. It proves one thing, you can learn technologies and learn to cluge them together if you have to..

Learning the proper way to build a network will take you quite a while.. Learning how to make a hack network like a CCIE lab takes even longer..

I'm sure some of you will disagree with what a CCIE certification really means.. But anyone who's built networks and has studied for the CCIE would probably agree..

My two cents

That's for sure. The CCIE tests that you have a thorough knowledge of the technical details of the network protocols and configurations. It doesn't necessarily equate to being able to design and implement a sane network! It is one of the hardest industry certifications to achieve, so any CCIE still gets my respect. I've been down that road, so I know how hard it is.

I do have a question---is the lab the same no matter what CCIE one goes for? I am going to be heading down the security road myself...

Burt

A few comments here about some the more recent posts...The lab is not the same among the people in the same room taking the exam let alone what CCIE one goes for.

Second, I do agree that you wouldn't necessarily build all networks the way you would in the exam but the test is trying to examine your ability to do multiple things:

1. Have an overall understanding of all available options of the tested protocols.
2. Work very quickly.
3. Be able to troubleshoot all applicable topologies.

Now I know what you mean about no "sane" person building a network in some of ways you see on the labs, however ask yourself about all the crazy topologies you see on this board. The CCIE is the fighter pilot of all engineers, the last line of defense, the person you go to when you have exhausted all other options. Therefore, you must understand all the different options of each topology. Right or wrong, there are many different ways to make a network run, efficiently or not.

That's absolutely true. If you have something weird going on and the usual explanations aren't working, you have to call on people with more experience on tougher networks and with more knowledge about a greater breadth of protocols. That's what studying for the CCIE written and lab do for you.

Cisco once briefly toyed with the idea of a CCIE Design track, but they dropped it. Now it looks like they're going to try it again.

burtsbees

now the ccie has many different lab scenarios.. just as if you are using ipexper or internetwork expert, they have many different lab scenerios just as the real lab does..

Thanks. What I mean is...do they have one with PIX/ASA's, specifically geared toward Security?
