Hi guys,

This is my first post here, i am from England and am the system admin for our IT & Other Tech Systems for our family business. We have an NEC SV8100 phone system, it was installed and setup by an external company, we used to have a maintenance package with them but decided to cancel it last year because they still charged for site vists on top of the subscription, the system was installed about 4 years ago.

Last month i updated the user password that they had originally given to us to be something more memorable for me; however today i tried to access via WebPro to make some changes to an extention name but i could not log in, with the error message Invalid Username / Password - obviously i have not written down the new password properly or the one i set was not set as i thought (WebPro is funny sometimes using Chrome with text fields). I phoned the external company to see if they had a record of any Administrator / Manufacturing accounts, however they have now told me that the Standard NEC Admin / Manufacturing accounts would have been removed when they set the system up, and that they removed their own Admin Accounts from the system when we cancelled the Maintenance Contract with them (which they did not inform us they would be doing), effectively leaving us with no failsafe in my current scenario.

Is there any way to recover the passwords or restore the manufacture / tech accounts? I have tried EVERY type of default account i could find on google, none seem to work. The company sent me the last backup of the system, a .pcp file, however i can't seem to open it as i cannot find V10 of PCPro anywhere online. the only option they have offered me is to re-instate the maintenance contract and get them to restore the system from the last backup (about 6 months old).

Is there anything that can be done? Conventional methods or not? Also would anyone be able to point me in the direction of PcPro V10?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Alex

Thanks i have posted that there as well, thank you.

Hi There,

I tried the suggestions from your email, i could not login using those methods - Infact i could not get the phone to even attempt to try using Speaker #*#*, does this need to be done from one of the DT700 handsets?

Thanks again for your help so far its greatly appreciated.

Alex

It is entirely possible that your previous vendor changed the #*#* log in. The manufacturer log in and password is published in the IPK-II (not IPK)/SV8100/SV9100 programming manuals, it's the same in all of those systems. I suggest you search the web for a copy. I will assume that OzzieGeorge sent you those in the PM. If that is the case, then you may be out of luck and nothing short of a factory default will get you in. There is one other method, but it's involved and may also have been rendered unusable by your previous vendor.

Hi,

I think the vendor removed all of the accounts on the system apart from the one that we use, so i think i may be out of luck - Although i have messed up the password i still think its slightly ridiculous they would leave no backup / failsafe account or re-add the default accounts when removing their own. I have a copy of the configuration, i cant seem to open it in PcPro - it thinks it is corrupt, i opened it using notepad and on the first line it says PcPro V10.0, so i think i need that version of the software in order to use it, as of yet i have only found 9.50 which failed to open it too. If i could find V10.0 of the software i assume i could factory reset the system and import the configuration?

How involved is the one other method [pc]

Thanks

Alex

I also found these when searching via notepad in the config backup: Edited Out

Going to try these now.

Guys, i have successfully gained access to the system! Turns out that the nec-i passwords i was finding online were different to what was set on our system, possibly US vs UK?

Alex

EDIT: Now that i have gained access to the system, if anyone reading this would like the UK nec-i password i am happy to share via PM if it helps anyone like it did for me. Failing that if you have a copy of the configuration .pcp you can open via notepad and search for it there.

Now here it was has REALLY ticked me off. Southern Communications Ltd, who yesterday had told me on the phone that they removed all of their accounts and the factory default accounts in order to comply with the Data Protection Act; had infact lied through their teeth to try and get back the maintenance contract ALL of their accounts and the factory default accounts are on there. These accounts seem to have different passwords than what i found on the internet so im not sure if they have changed from default or are a UK preset.

Thanks again for all the help i have received here.

Belvedere

I sent him a username and password that is not normally visible but I think Oz is different to the UK

Just a thought here (it just occurred to me) changing the password on the system does not change the password for PC Pro so the question is, at what point are you getting the rejection?

I was getting rejection on both PcPro and WebPro with incorrect password.

Thanks

Alex

But were you getting the rejection opening PC pro or when trying to connect?

Apologies, when i was trying to connect.

Thanks

Alex

Changing the passwords in the system directly affects the log in's through PCPro and WEBPro. I am reasonably sure the default passwords are the same across continents.
AlexD123, I'd change those passwords and note them somewhere safe. As for PCPro v10, it is only available through an authorized dealer. The only versions you might find on the internet are older ones. A new version can connect to any older version of software, but older PCPro software cannot connect to newer system software. NEC protects their dealer network and has contractual stipulations. If you choose to sign up with another NEC dealer, you will need to fill out a dealer change form and have it submitted to NEC. At least that is how it's done in North America.

Having seen the nec-i password Alex got, I can safely say that the passwords are different on different continents

I trust your eyes. I have not worked on too many systems sold outside of the U.S.

Just for the record, 9.53 would appear to be the last revision in Oz of PC Pro for 8100. I have also tested and the way Alex recovered his password is not available on the 9100 and 2100 due to compression of the files.

How strange, i cant seem to find the V10 of the software anywhere, and 9.53 does not appear to connect via PCPro, so i guess i will stick with the buggy WebPro app and internet explorer. The first line of the backup file reads: PCProCYGNUSABCDEÿ V10 0H

Not at the office at the moment but Belvedere may be able to answer this, is that referring to the version of PC Pro that it was saved with or the firmware level of the system? Still willing to try to open it for you!
