I have an SPE card i'm trying to setup for SMDR..I have it in slot 1,asigned as a MIFM card. i also have the baud rate set to 9600 on com 2,but cannot receive any SMDR out the serial com 2 on side of KSU.What am I missing. This is first time using this new card.

Thanks for your help...

Have you enabled SMDR output in memory block 1-5-13??

Also, maybe have a look at memory block 7-3-02 to see if the MIF (SPE) is assigned for SMDR use..

I've had troubles in the past setting them up....Make sure you didn't plug the card in hot either. First one I did, I plugged it into a live system and a little component that sits behind the LAN connector blew up...

I thought that by default they were set to MIF mode so you could still make a connection to the connectors on the side as the card provides 2 ports to the backplane

Thanks guys I'll give it a shot..on the ethernet connector in front of SPE card has to have an IP address assingned to it.... what i was told by another vendor..

If you set DIP sw 4-8 to on, you can connect to the system and get SMDR like normal. It makes the SPE act like a MIF.

If you want the rest of the features of the card, then you need to use the SPE application to make the connection first. Then use virtual serial ports to connect.

The card has an IP address assigned by default - 192.168.1.100.
