i have a customer with an electra elite 192 with the VRS voicemail (it's an in the skin vmail with active voice software).

does anyone know where i can get the software to connect my pc the db9 serial port on the vmail card. i've seen it used, it's an active voice software product, perhaps someone has a copy.

i need to get into the vmail and make change where pressing 1 in the main menu dials an extension, i don't think i can do this using the telephone.

your help is appreciated.

My apologies for butting in…

I was just about to install CoSessions and I had a little warning from my phone vendor with Installing on to a Windows 98 2nd Ed systems. And, the installation instructions mention:

“This product will not run on some PC’s if the Operating System is Windows 98 2nd Edition”

What exactly does this mean? Are you running on Win 2nd Ed?

Any other feedback would be helpful.

Thanks

win 98 2ed worked fine for me.

i need to know how to add a mailbox to this vmail for some travelling salespeople. basically a box with no extension.

can't i just add a mailbox and wether there is actually an extension or not won't matter. should i also make sure the transfer option is turned off.

Setting transfer to 'no' should work fine. You also might delete the message lamp extension field. No need to try to light a lamp for a phone that doesn't exist. If you are using the VM as an auto attendant this will work well, make sure the receptionist knows how to transfer calls directly to the mailbox when needed.

i am not going to use cosessions, but rather the telephone interface. do i have an option for lamp notification?

the transfer procedure is transfer XXXX + 7

The option is not in set programmingt, for phantom mailboxes without a set we use CAR keys and assign the CAR keys to the Reception set or other and tekll the mailbox to light that CAR keys ext, if the saleperson for instance does not have the notifaction in use then when they phone in and ask reception if they have any messages and the receptionist looks to see if the CAR key is lit and says YES.
So what I do is setup a wack of CAR keys and assign them the the DSS module and this way they are there allready so you can add a mailbox from a set and create a mailbox to an un-used CAR key.

two questions on the elite 192.

how well does the conference bridge card work. what's it like? any recommendations and experience with it

is it possible to forward phones to external numbers?

I am looking for a copy of CoSessions, I have a NEC Neax 2000 if anyone could help I would appreciate

I saw where somebody had said you can have NEC crack the manager password for you. Would you need to ship the card off to them, or is it something a tech from a authorized dealer could do?

We had a NEC ElectraElite 48 system with voicemail and autoattendant features built into it dontated to us, and we need to make some adjustments, like remove their greeting from it and change some of the selection items.

I have a copy of CoSessions. I am not as 'knowledgable' as you guys with what passwords are for what. Can I reset the 'manager' box without sending it to NEC? Or, is that the password I need.

Thank you in advance,

Luke

To jsaad: The conference bridge card works pretty well. I've put it in several 192's and ipk's and its easy to install and easy to use. As to the fowarding, yes you can foward to external numbers, but it has to be setup in programming to allow it.

To Luke: If the login and password aren't just NEC then you'll have to have it cracked by NEC. Fortunatley you don't have to send the card off to them. A Tech can drop the voicemail down to DOS and copy out the avent.avd file to a disk or file or whatever and send it to NEC. Downside is NEC doesn't do this for free.

You'll also need a letter of authorization form the customer on their letter head sent to NEC along with a PO for $125.00 or 2 tokens.
