NEC Electra Elite IPK COIB (4): adding new COIB(4) board

I have a fully functional NEC Electra Elite IPK with CPUI, existing COIB(4), VMS board, 8 port station board and free slots. The system is in operation and working fine. I inherited this system and have been tasked with adding a 2nd COIB(4) to expand the system to 8 CO lines.

I'm new to the NEC and piecing together a tool set since I have no ability to log into the PBX via a PC. I see talk about cosessions and will investigate this further but any guidance for tools to interact with the IPD would be apprecitated. The previous PBX consultant appears to have made off with all the manuals.

My primary interest is in learning how to configure the system to recognize the new COIB. I don't have the card yet but have been told the PBX port must be programmed to interact with the new card. I am hoping that the presence of an existing function COIB card will make the configuration of the new card mostly a "copy and paste" operation but I may be naive in this hope.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

FYI, if it comes down to a visit from one of the vendors on here I'm in Hendersonville, NC.

Sorry about the confusion from earlier--I take it cosession is just for talking to the VM card.

So I guess the question should be rephrased: How does one install a 2nd COIB(4) from the handset?

Have card installed in slot 3 and have one CO line routed to the appropriate section of the 66 block for new card.

I used MB 7-1 to activate the card in slot 3.

When I call the number associated with the CO line the handsets all ring and show caller ID. Interestingly only one handset actually shows the line button as blinking. The rest wshow blinking Answer button but pressing that button yields fast busy.

What am I missing as far as programming the system to get all phones to show the incoming calls on the line button?

I think I've got this solved. I didn't understand the relationship between ports and line number assignments and was happily changing assignments for port 1 and neglecting all the other ports!

So, for the record, I used MB 4-12 to assign new CO lines to the CO/PBX buttons I wanted and used Conf button to scroll through the various ports that are mapped to my stations/handsets. It looks like you have to press Transfer after every change to persist them.
