We just inherited an NEC ELECTRA ELITE 48/192 and have the voicemail on board card with 4 ports ....the phone calls are answered by voicemail Auto Attd first and then transfer to the users when dialing the ext # ....

The issue is that when a person is on the phone they never get the second call it goes right to voicemail ...they would ike it to ring a couple of times before going to voicemail so they could try and answer.

my guess is that it has to do with the way the calls are forwarded ....actually the Voicemail is told to "await-ans"
4 rings ...so the phones are not forwarded and the voicemail is doing a screen transfer rather then blind transfer and let the Phones forwarding take care how they are forwarded

busy
no answer
all

Since there are no intercom buttons and they are all 16 button phone with 16 lines in the system ....they wanted to see all lines on a button ....instead of pooling

How does a caller actually get a second call while on one because the voicemail if we do change the "transfer" to blind doesn't it see it as "busy" ????

Nice little system but we mostly do Avaya products and service this clients other sites

Hi phoneuser. Try using blind or release transfer. Forward BNA phones to VM. check memory block 1-2-22 for call forward timer. Set memory block 4-42 to delay forward(yes) for each phone port. Setting this to delay causes intercom calls ( not outside calls ) to hear a busy signal if the called phone is busy. However, if the caller waits it will still forward! This has always seemed strange to me and I have changed that busy tone to ringback to get around it. I havnt seen any unforseen problems with this.
You probably could keep Await Answer and just change 4-42. although most users dont like await answer. But, I think you would have to change the busy tone to ringback so the AA would release the call.
In either case the second call flashes the answer button and the user just pushes that, this places the original caller on hold.
Im recalling this all from memory, hope it works out.

Awsome !
I will give it a try when I get back on site ....pretty darn good recall just from memory :)

I ended up setting the mailboxes to do a release (blind)
transfer and forwarded the phones CFB/NA

it worked great ! ....I tried doing the screened transfer
when I installed the system thinking if a user forgot to
forward a phone the Voicemail would handle it instead as a
backup ...

As for "changing the busy tone to ringback" that would work if we still were doing "await-ans" .....what screen
or option is that under ...I have the NEC manual on CD
