I am new to this so please bear with me. My system is the sv8100. I have a DT300 desk phone that I just set up. I had the line from my other desk phone split at the wall jack so I could have a second phone. I attached the line to the phone and all seemed well. As soon as I pick up the receiver, the phone rings and rings. How do I stop the constant ringing? Thank you in advance.

Each phone has its own port in the system. To clarify, we took the wires from the CAT6 line coming into the office and separated them to make two phone wall jacks out of one.

If the phone starts ringing by just picking up the receiver, then you have an unusual problem. Lifting the receiver should give you either internal dial tone (ICM), or an outside line depending on how it was programmed. I suggest swapping the phone with a known good on. Possibly a bad phone or port.
What happens if you press the speaker button with the receiver on hook?

If I hit the speaker button, I get a dial tone but the indicator light keeps flashing. When I pick up the receiver I get nothing, it's dead. Swapping a known working phone with this one results in the same issue. There must be something wrong with the line.

You could try resetting the station card, or the system. If you have another spare port, try that.
