Hello,

I have not worked on a 120 for some time but I always just used a terminal program (Hyperterm) and connected to the DB25 on the backplane on PIM 0 with a NULL cable and just used the normal keys like /, Enter and Space, has this change in later versions of the software, I have tried to connect at all speeds up to 115k using None, 8 , 1 and I can't get the COMMAD> prompt?

Regards
Stuart

What is the CPU ?

- if the system has been retrofitted to a CP16 or cp26 - comms would be via the front of the CPU card or ethernet. If you dont have a cable you could dial in via the onboard modem - check cm 4010>1:ext

then use hyperterminal to dial in- max speed is 19200

I will have to check what it is tomorrow, thanks for the information.

From what I have read with this CPU it is a special connector on the processor similar idea to the Ericcson BP250.

Thanks
Stuart

Just for the record. On a Retrofitted system the comms port on the backplane will still work. it parralells one of the com ports on the CPU. I would be using CAT mode on a Dterm to interrogate Cmd 40 to find out the settings of the comm ports. It can only go as high as 9600 (speed set in 4008, Length set in 4001 & stop in 4004)

Thanks OzzieGeorge for that bit of information, I was thinking that the ports must have been disabled or not used on the backplane.

I will try and get to the console and find out what speed etc by looking in 400x but by default I think it should be 1200,n,8,1 and the cable should be a null modem (crossover).

Do you know of any reason why it would not work besides the obvious of being faulty.

I am assuming I can use Hyperterm (or other terminal program) to access the COMMAND prompt, I should then be able to use the standard commands from that point.
