Hi, We have been asked to replace an NEC NEAX2400 IMS system. Large hotel of over 1000 rooms plus also has remote units either in the form of another NEC2400 or DCU.
Not much information out there on the DCU.
Do they supply DTerm (x23) only or can they also add an x amount of analog extensions? Suspect the "Digital" means digital only.
How are they registered or connected to the main PBX?
Are there any other widely used peripherals that may be used by a hotel? Cordless systems (proprietary)
Any info, much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I've attached a manual for the DRU.
They can support digital or analog phones.
23 or 30 depending on how they were ordered.
IT is a T1 or E1 interface between the DRU and the DAI card in the 2400.

I never worked on a DCU but I believe it was a "remote cabinet", sort of like a remote PIM but I could be wrong.

Do you know which one you are replacing?

Sorry for such a long delay. Pulled in so many directions do not know where I am. Thanks for the info. Finally getting to work on this project. Downloaded and will set for light reading in my spare time.

The DCU was a short lived product. A remote cabinet the size of a regular PIM. The DRU was as described by PDF45 above. Both have been replaced by IP remote units.
