I am stymied.
I have dial tone from Time Warner Cable thru a arris TG862g modem. Been working fine. I use it to test telephone systems, Avaya IP Office, Partner acs and Nortel systems, you get the picture. Well the other day I purchased a AT&T syn 248 system Cool little box, not great but handy for an emergency customer call. Anyhow after putting my tel line into the system and testing it all out I put the line back to the IP Office and lo and behold NO DIAL TONE. Tried it on my Nortel same thing. Back to the syn 248, works OK. Straight line phone works OK.

Whats going on? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

This is a shot in the dark, put could it be polarity sensitive? Are you getting full -48 VDC?

Always look out for the next guy because it may be you!

I don't believe this. I just went to the shop and tried it again on the Partner ACS, worked ok. Put it on the IP Office, OK. Back to the SYN with a butt set monitoring it and heard a lot of traffic, tones etc, I guess it inits. Tried all systems again things are ok. I will test for 48. But thanks for the quick response.
