Hi,

We've just migrated to NW6 with NDPS printing etc...
We have a little problem with the users and theire default printer.

User have a full restricted desktop, they do not have the rights to go to the Control Panel etc...

A user has 2 printers ( printer A default and Printer B color )when the users first login, he gets the printer A as default which is correct. BUT when he prints on the color one and restart the PC, the Printer B becomes automatically the default printer.......

I set the Default printer under the User on NWadmin...

Does anyone have a solution ???

Many thanks

Oguz

Are both printers controlled by NDPS?

Is it possible that you have conflicting default assignements? perhaps he's getting the other printer as a default from somewhere else?

To avoid confusion when administering NDPS printers, I try to only assign printers to Containers. If that is not possible, then I might use groups, but I try to avoid any single user administration.

Also wondering what desktop platform and client you're using..

Yes they are both NDPS managed printers.
I don't think there is a default conflicting assignements.

The fact is that when I'm logged on as Local administrator the printers are set correctly.... but when logged on with the username, the first time it is correct and after a reboot the dafault printer change.

I've tried both assignements : Per user and Per Groups...and that gives me the same thing.

We are using NT4 sp6a with the Novell client 4.83sp2 with also zfd4.01b

is this maybe related to \\ndps01 or \\ndps02 port ???

Thanks

Thanks

It sounds like it has something to do with local NT account permissions. I assume you're also using Zenworks 4 since you mention the zen patch...

You might try this NDPS patch for the client, it addresses a few NDPS issues although it doesn't specifically mention your issue..
Another thought is that you should review your zenworks configurations to ensure that nothing is conflicting or missing.. look at this TID
Hope that sets you in the right direction.
