Hello,

Do you always get this error when trying to backup?

How long does it take before the timeout comes?

Have you tried to set the Group Inactivity Timeout to 0?

Is it any difference if it is a level 0 backup?

1.) Do you always get this error when trying to backup?
This is a random error that happens with incremental backups. Some days it will complete successfully and other days it will fail. Schedule is Monday-Thursday level 7 backup Friday level 0 sat & Sun skip

2.) How long does it take before the timeout comes?
This example of the failure it ran for 16:41:34 before error occurred

3.) Have you tried to set the Group Inactivity Timeout to 0?
Will give 0 a try

4.) Is it any difference if it is a level 0 backup?
Level 0 works every time.

Do you use automatic cloning? - If this is the case, you can not apply it to NDMP backups as it would use nsrclone not nsrndmp_clone, which is wrong for a NDMP save set, if you do not use DSA.

This is simple, no cloning is done on any servers. The ndmp backup is run over the network not attached to Netapps.

Well if the backup timed out after 16:41:34, it means it was only active for 1 1/2 minute then as 1000 min is 16:40 hours. So increasing the activity timeout or setting it to 0 will not help.

My guess would be that since level 0 works, the problem is not on the NetWorker side of things, but rather the Netapp. What version of Ontap are you running?

Currently running Ontap 7.2.2 but plan on upgrading to 7.2.3 and it's a FAS250.

If an update of the Ontap doesn't help, I would recommend opening a ticket with support. You can always try to update networker too and see if that makes any difference. 7.2.2 is a very stable version.

Thanks, I'll let you know if there's any difference after the ontap upgrade this weekend.
