NCR 1530 Pricing / Alternatives

I was curious what other customers are paying for new NCR 1530 terminals. Our dealer charges us $1,950 for models with Intel Atom Processor, 2 GB RAM, and 16 GB SSD hard drive. These terminals only come with 1 year warranty and each additional year is $200.

We've used Elo terminals in the past which I don't love but the price is much better at around $1,200. The Elo terminals generally have a better processor but a standard hard drive. They do come with a three year warranty.

If we only had a couple terminals the difference wouldn't be much of an issue but with over 100 terminals and that number only increasing the difference is rather substantial. I like using RAL on the NCR hardware and would rather not use third party hardware.

The good news RAL can run on any computer. Not just NCR branded. More good news, for $1950 you could by 4 to 6 P1220 refurbished and get the same results. Have many years of replacement computers and little down time.

The NCR 1530 is a nice machine, thin, fast, light weight, but at the end of the day, ALOHA is a very light weight product on the computer. The older your ALOHA version, the newer machine makes even less of a good idea.

My dealer always said that RAL could only run on NCR/Radiant branded hardware so I will have to look into that. I wouldn't want to go to a 12" terminal but I guess I could get refurbished 15" terminals. We are slowly migrating to 12.3 with all of our sites.

i get mine from knectech. they sell 15" terminal brand new for 1495. comes with 3 year warranty. Atom processor, 16gb SSD, 2 GB RAM, 15" True Flat Resistive screen, POS Ready 7.
