I have this device that looks for hosts on my LAN and it sees all of them but one. The one it doesn't see is an NT4 box (but it sees another NT4 box on the same lan). I run nbstat -a xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (where xxx..... is the ip number for the box) and I get host not found (even if I run it on the machine itself. I can ping all the machines on the lan and they can ping it. In NT and Win98 every machine sees the others. The troubleshooting section for the product says to enable netbios support over TCP/IP in its discussion about troubleshooting W2K, but there is nothing on NT4. Any ideas?

Just a quick question.

When you run the NBTSTAT command, are you using the -a or -A arguement.

The -a requires the computer name not IP address, the -A is for IP address.

As a work around you could put the workstation name and IP address in the LMHOSTS file (remember to enable it in the Networking). New Zealand, a great place to visit.
