Hi,

My Computer

DELL Dimension 2350
Windows XP Home Edition
Intel Pentium 4 - 2.2ghz
768 RAM

I seems as though I have plenty of RAM to use for InDesign 2.0, but when I open a document and try to scroll, the scroll bar will move slightly, then stop, and the computer will have to load for about 30 seconds before I can see where I have scrolled to. Then if I want to scroll more I will repeat what just happened. I watched my system performance while I was doing this and what happens is the memory usage only goes up when I scroll and then returns back down to where it was. It never even comes close to using 768 mb of RAM. Keep in mind that this document only has about 3 layers and is 3 pages long! Why can't it hold that information in the RAM for me to easily glance over?

Also if I turn the visuals off on all three layers and have three blank pages I can scroll just fine.

Are you using version 2.0.2?

Can you change your view quality to a lower setting? Does that improve the redraw speed? If so, by how much?

I tried... I turn the viewing quality as to Optimized Quality, but still no better.

Also when I say that scrolling is difficult I mean painfully diffcult, I appreciate any advice.

First, do a disk cleanup, scan disk and defrag.

Also, make sure that you are including images by File>Place (Ctrl + D on a PC) and not copy/pasting them.

Let us know how you make out after this, and we will dig deeper if that fails.

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
