Doing a client install on an unmanaged (home) computer. It tries to install then comes up stating that the wizard was interrupted before Symantec Antivirus could be completely installed. Your systems has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again.

Why is it doing this? Running Windows XP with sp2.

don't think so, must be something to do w/ sp2. i can install any other version 2004, 2005 etc. just a problem w/ corporate version. I do a full uninstall, even remove things from the registry as suggested by symantec... absolutely no spyware.. ran adaware, spybot and norton.

If you have no other Symantec products installed, back up your registry (and make sure you know how to restore it, just in case), then search for and remove all instances of:

virusprotect6
74be21dbfdbd3d11ebae000acc725290

Browse to the following key: HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Symantec

In the right pane, delete any of the following keys that are present:

Repair
Remove
SourceDir
DestDir
Install
TargetDir

Restart your computer and try the instalation again. If you still have problems, repeat the above steps, removing the entire Symantec key shown above.

No guarantees, but this works with NAVCE.

I had this problem with a 98 machine. I also received a 1722 error with mine off and on, and after trying the symantec suggestions for a manual uninstall, and some of their other suggestions, and some ideas I found in various forums, I had to use our support pack and get a file directly from Symantec Customer Support to remove some trace files and it then allowed the install. It just appears to be bug in 9.0

Are you installing from the CD or from the HDD?

I get this with my PC at home with some software that I have on my HDD and try to install!

Some people say its because I don't have admin rights (which I have always had!) but I found that if I make an image of the files and mount the image in something like Daemon Tools it works every time!

Of course if you are doing this from the CD...this won't help!!

If you need more help.. let me know!

Have just installed NAV 2005 without problems.. no time to troubleshoot this right now.. thanks for all your help.
