We have Norton Antivirus CE v. 7.6 installed on a Windows 2000 server and on Windows 98 clients. After it is installed on the workstations, when they boot up in the morning - Outlook doesn't work. It is so slow and the whole system seems sluggish. After a reboot, everything is fine. Even if you leave the workstation on all night it does the same thing. Why is this happening and is there something I can do to fix it?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Do you have a scan set up that's trying to run when the workstations boot up?
Is it possible an admin scan is trying to run? They can be set to run any number of hours after their scheduled time. IOW: If the scan is set to run at 10pm and the workstation is off at that time. The run if missed parameter is set to 10 hours for example, then when the workstation boots up, the scan begins.

If the display scan window is set to display, the scan could be running and you wouldn't see it. Rebooting would clear the problem as the scan DID run (even though it was aborted).

Does this seem like a possibility? =============

Thank you!
It was set up for daily client scans at 6am. I changed this to Sundays at 6am.
Thanks again.

Glad to be of help!

You might think about leaving the workstations running all night, logged out, but running. This way you can run daily scans at, say 4am. The scans would be done by the time your users got in, and you would know the workstations were virus free every day.

When the users get in, they could just reboot the workstations to clear memory for fresh start. =============
