Greetings,

I am looking for a secure, 3rd party NAT software package to be used in a corporate environment. I don't want to use ICS due to some limitations. There will be about 10 workstations on the LAN needing internet access. Externally, the client has a dedicated IP.

Also, I am curious as to whether or not there would be any security advantage to putting their router to the internet on its own NIC in their file server and using the fileserver as a GW rather than just plugging it into their switch.

Thanks,
Brian

Why not plunk a Cisco 1605R in the closet with IOS 12.0.9 ? Small, cheap, durable, once it's configured it's no mess nofuss. even after a power outage. The NAT is fairly easy to setup and there is a simple access list to set up to dump things like Finger, Ping and other probing types of packets.
