I have a IPO 2.1.16 with VM PRO 2.1.5

We set up a names directory off of the main attendant. When you hear the attendant you are given the option to press "1" to dial by name. When you press "1" you hear the recording that says enter the last name of the caller you are trying to reach. When you enter the last name you get "extension not found", however if you enter the first name you are routed to the extension. So I changed the selection to search by first name, thinking the caller will now hear please enter the first name of the person you are trying to reach. They do hear this message however now when you enter the first name you hear "extension not found" and if you enter the last name you are routed to the correct extension.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

First, if you're going to use 2.1 then use 2.1.248901 or 2.1.27 with VMPro 2.1.12 or .14, that could easilly solve your problem right there.

In the full name field for your users, did you enter it as Firstname Lastname? Or did you enter Lastname, Firstname?

The correct syntax is Firstname Lastname

The end users do have their name recorded. I have tried to re-enter their names in the format of First Last, and Last First, and still no go. I am at a complete loss, any other ideas?

Thanks!

if you cant work it out then swap (re-name) files in the voicemail for the the ones that you say are the wrong way round! a little extreme but it will work.. should you need a list of what file says what i can email it to you.
here is where you find them
C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Voicemail Pro\VM\WAVS\en
probably "DBN_21.wav" enter first name and "DBN_"".wav" enter last name...

I will give this a try, we had discussed however wanted to try and find another fix. This should work though. If you could email or post which file says what that would be great.

Thanks!

Brad

Just as drastic but probably more correct and less future maintenace headaches....

I would back up the accounts directory and then wipe out the contents, forcing VMPro to recreate all the mailboxes with the full name in manager as Firstname Lastname format. Strongly suspect that would clear your issue, I think something got stuck when the mailboxes were created with the full names entered backwards in manager.

morrack is probably correct. my was was just a quick way to fix the prob without driving yourself mad that would def work!

Thanks for all the help. Actually took Morrack's advise and all is good now.

Thanks!
