I have 2 computers running Access 2000; both Win XP. The Access programs on the development computer work fine. On the other computer, there are at least several places where the #Name? errors come up. I'll explain the simplest reference.

There is a control on a form, which is supposed to default to today's date. Placing =Date() in the default property or the control source property yields #Name? Access error on the user machine but works fine on the other computer. There are other fields, some on reports, some on forms that fail similiarly.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Just a wild guess: Are both computers using the same Regional Settings (in Control Panel) and the same date formats? Is it happening just for '=Date()'?
I know this might be a stupid question, but you didn't specify if you were using exactly the same database. Are you?
Cheers.

Hi

This is a known problem recorded on the microsoft web site, if you have (or have had) two versions of Office on same PC, and the 'old' object libraries (particularly I believe from Outlook). Check your references on the two machines (open any code module in design view, then choose Tools\references from the menu), note and compare the list of references, their order and versions/filenames)

Yes, they are identical databases. The Regional date formats are the same. But, no, it's not just with dates --there are other instances that do not involve dates.

Thanks for your help.

I'll check those settings when I get back to the two affected macines but on the machine here at home, which has the same problem, I don't find any references in Access to Miscrosoft Office or Outlook.

I scoured the MS website before resorting to Tek-Tips. I'll go back but is there a specific reference you could provide?

Thanks for your help.
