I saw my friend using a plug-in in Illustrator 10. He would select a position on a picture and then could use the selected position to paint copies of it. It would be like taking a piece of a puzzle and painting it elsewhere. I didn't have the sense to ask him, and now I'm looking for this.
Thanks,
Jake

Are you referring to
a) Make a Selection of all the objects.
b) Object Object->Transform->Move and use copy option.
(i.e. Ctrl + Shift + M)

Are you sure he was using Illustrator, sounds more like the clone tool, patch tool or healing brush in Photoshop?

No, just tried that and it isn't it.

It was illustrator. It was a really neat tool to help rebuild stuff.

He clicked the tool and a little circle came up. You place the circle where you want the color/texture, and a "new" circle comes up that you can use like a paintbrush.
