I have setup a Windows 2000 server and it is configured a
domain controller

I wish to change its name

The normal network identification, properties is greyed out with a message that I cannot cahnge the name because its a
domain controller

How do I change its name ?

you cant change the DC name, but if you wish you have to uninstall AD and demote it as Member Server then change its name then back it DC again.

hope this will help you...

Just a note of caution if this is the only server with active directory in the domain you will lose all of info for AD. Start active directory on another server in your domain. check your roles on the servers because you will need to change it back when you demote and promote.
