We have an ARD using two 500 phones (separate locations) using hot with the same DN but two different TN's going to a 2616 phone. I know you can name a DN in ld 95 but would like to name the TN's separetly so that the caller ID on the 2616 will show where call is originating.

I may have to just use two different DN's but would like to use same DN because we are running short on DN's

Thanks in advance for any help or (it just can't be done)

I don't beleive you can...No doubt I'll be proven wrong now

Even if you use MCR (MultCallRinging) it will only allow the DN Name to be displayed

Cheers !!

Am I right in assuming these phones are only for dial out to the HOT#? If so, you do not need to use DID numbers, non-DID will work the same and not use up your few remaining DID numbers.

yeah trvlr not sure why we are using DID's don't need to it's a waste...I'm going to change them all to non DID..

And I guess I'll just use different DN's for each location so I can name them..unfortually going to be a pain to change we have a lot of them.

******** Does anyone know why after you hot call the 2616 it rings just once about 5 minutes later?????

Thanks

Cont. from above...looks like it rings once if know one answers the phone, so thats ok..

This must be just on newer releases. I have an 81C at 3.0 that does not give this option. Do you know at what release this is available?

I can change DES in ld 11 because different TN's...what I was looking for is to change the DN's CLID name on the different TN's

What GHTROUT is saying above is that you can have the same DN on two phones then make sure the DES on the phones are different ie POS1 and POS2. Then, if you can set the DES as YES in LD 95 when adding or changing a name, you will see the DN and the DES so you will be able to tell where the call is coming from, even when the DN is the same.
What I was saying is that with Release 3.0 I do not seem to have that option and was curious as the what release will allow it.

This is from a Rel 3

I have that option to enter the information, I then programmed 2 phones with the same DN. What I did not do was add a name to the extension, thinking that it would still show the DES, but it did not. Once I entered the name on the test extension, it did indeed show the DES, so yes it does work on REL 3.0

oh ok..thanks G and trvlr for explaining. Not sure if have totally got it but i'll try it.

Thanks..

That wasn't a big issue anyway..my next post is huge I need to find a way if at all possible..keep a look out
