I am trying once again to upgrade a 3.0 NAM to 4.1.
I load the 4.1 boot disc and 4.1 upgrade CD and the display on the NAM goes from 7f to 00 like other upgrades I have done and beeps twice(30-40sec interval) then sings except the tones go down versus up like normal and the upgrade fails. I think I am doing something wrong. Thanks for any help here.

If you are using an upgrade keycode, try using another disk and cd. I tried upgrading a NAM 4 times before I noticed a smudge on the cd. Used a spare and it worked.

First I work more with Call Pilots and rarely do my svc. calls include NAM upgrades. But when they do the unit is usually a 4.0 machine and my upgrade kit has worked perfectly until I came across this 3.0 machine. Are there steps that I am missing to upgrade a NAM from 3.0 to 4.1.
Here are the steps and the creation of a new boot disc that I have been suggested I do to correct the problem.
I have tried to make a new boot disc from the CD.
I open the disc and open the file labeled VMBOOT.
It says "creating NVM bootable floppy"
I put new floppy in A; drive and it creates new boot disc.
But I still do not think I am doing something right as the upgrade procedure in the NAM is diffrent than in the 4.0 machines that I have upgraded. What do I need to do. Thanks
The display continues to show 7F throughout and never goes to 00 as is the normal process in good upgrades.
When you say keycode the only keycodes I am aware of are keycodes for Call Pilots.

What is the version of your KSU?

You make everyone try to help you just to find out you cant even upgrade because it took you that long to post your specs......without spec/versions how can you expect proper answers right away, here is your other post form only a few days ago:

From what I remember (haven't upgraded a 4.0 to 4.1 in awhile), if you are on version 4.0, you do not need an upgrade keycode to get to 4.1. I think exsmogger is correct.

First I don't make anyone do a thing. I explained that I do not do NAM upgrades very often.
Normally 4.0 to 4.1 no problem
I have a 3.0 I am trying to upgrade and I was just looking to see if there was something I needed to do that I was'nt doing.
I have used this site for many years as a fellow technician not a user.
Get over yourself smog. You work on the same old crap I do you cant know everything all the time.

Interpretation issue I gather
You have asked almost the same question, were given the answers in another thread days prior (you have yet to update)....learn from it instead of making us repeat ourselves or have I read wrong? if sorry apologies.
Try using search feature, but better yet read the manual as it cleary states what the decending tones are, what hard drive size you need, what /if key codes are required.

You say you have been on these forum many years...happy anniversary and congrats, your just over 2 years now.
You should then know to post as much info as possible including the specs and versions of the equipment.

Nice! that the best you got?
I try to help you in this post and above link, reply to you, ask you WHAT VERSION KSU YOU HAVE and all you can do is resort to name calling and fail to answer any questions that might assist you.

I dont care what version anymore...

Good day

CC

I thought the question was pretty clear.
What is the difference in the upgrade procedure for a NAM going from 4.0 to 4.1
versus 3.0 to 4.1.
I know now that it is expected to include software version of the KSU I am working with.
MICS 6.1
I do not have an old enough version to work with 3.0.

By the way asking someone to get over themself is not name calling.
I use tech tips when I have too, I had been working on this upgrade longer than expected and was very frustrated and now I know I should have included more information.

Finally, I think I will be able to continue my 14+ year career quite well without you curlyQ. Glad to see you have the time to keep up with how long someone has used techtips.
You must be real busy mr. monitor. GOOD DAY to U

Maybe you need to read the site policy thoroughly Curly.
We do make mistakes and are not all knowing all the time like you.

I agree

Best not to retailiate in anyway or put others down and resort to name calling.

We are here to help and if not wanted post elswhere.

Anyway, did you get that NAM upgraded?

Whose sister did you have to take out to get the keycode? ;) I thought Nortel had given up on the NAM.
