I just dove headfirst into our phone system...I don't know a ton about it, but I'm learning fast. The thing that has me stumped now is the NAM. It works when I can get it running, but it will crash after a day or two of running. The phone will say inactive feature for any of the voicemail feature buttons. I don't know what updates have or haven't been done on it, but someone wrote on the front of the unit;

Updated 95D3
Updated 1,2E

I don't have any floppies, I am not sure what model this is...but it has 16mb of ram, and two big cards each with 2 phone lines coming out. Also, the HD will shut off after boot, and that's when the system doesn't work. If the HD stays on then the system will usually work after a couple minutes...

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help!!

Is there a way to test that...? Is it possible to hook up as a slave drive on my desktop, and run a diagnostic and backup the files?

LOOK IN THE FAQ TAB IN THE NORSTAR FORUM. IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A NAM 1 .THIS IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE TO ORDER A NEW HARD DRIVE. THE HD's ARE SOLD THROUGH AUTHERIZED DEALERS.THE SOFTWARE IS BURNED IN TO THE HD's.

The Hard Drive may be full also if you have the General Delivery turned on you may want to check it

Now, I can't even get it to boot up...it starts, then the hd shuts off, restarts, beeps twice, and the hd stays off, but the power supply fan is on.

Also, if I do need a hd, where can I get one, and how can I back this one up if it won't boot?

You cant back it up if it's crashed....should have been done earlier, look for a pile of disks lying around or hope that at least 1 was taped to inside of door which would be your keycode back up.

Best bet is to send the whole unit in for repair or purchase another one.

Somebody like repair center specializes in repairs of all Norstar equipment with state of the art repair facility.

If you buy one you want to make sure that it has the right amount of ports avialable or key codes etc and that the verion matches your KSU software version.
