What is involved in getting the NAM to be able to Record a Call F989?. It does not seem to allow us to record any calls.

You have to allow the mb in COS to record the call it uses the time alloted for a message being left. You have to give the MB an other COS so if you record a call it will have enough time for recording. and yes any call you are on can be recorded but it will say recording so the caller will know they are being recorded.

It is saying something like "Feature Not ALlowed" or "Denied In Admin

You have to go into voice mail admin (Feat 983 and pw) then press Mailbox and then dial 1. That will give you access to COS. Put in what COS number you want to change and then push OK, then next until it comes to Record Call, change that to Y. You should read up in the manual about COS options before you go making alot of changes. You can make a separate COS for the set you want to record calls on.

I was told that the COS changes can only be made via a Laptop interface direct cable connection to the NAM itself. I was told that the Record a call option first has to be enabled within the NAM that it is locked and must be enabled but only via the above routine via a Laptop.

Is this ture?

Right. The laptop login used to be the only way to get to COS on older software. Follow Bob3470's instructions, and you should get right in.

I went into VM via 983 and PW then pressed Mailbox then pressed 1 and nothing happens. Do you mean to enter a mailbox number then NEXT til I see "Service Class"?

By the way were would I find the COS for Record A Call. I checked under the FAQ in this site and I could not find the COS for Redord A Call.

Try logging into f983, and press 9. That'll display the current software it's running.

I know I've gotten into cos on newer NAM's before. It sounds like you may not actually be at 4.1.

This one may be 4.0. If so I will have to access COS via a PC?

Through telset if 4.1:

Connect PC via Hyper terminal:

To Network (so you can use NVM):
This is how to change the IP- or you can use cross over and a PC and use the default IP

You will need a Network card - pref an old 3com

Search the forum using seacrh box for networking the NAM.
