MySQL Connection failed

Warning: MySQL Connection Failed: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket "/tmp/mysql.sock" (111)in /home/sites/home/web/helpdesk/mydb.php on line 4

Does any one what this means, or where i can look to reseach it

Well it means there was an error connecting to the MySQL server =] You should contact your server administrator and have them fix it, it's probably something on their end.

unfortuantly that me.

It turns out, there was a reference to locallost in the php script that caused the problem

I changed it the IP address and it worked.

I have the same problem. What is the php script? I couldn't find the localhost setting anywhere.

localhost is a loopback reference for network testing

localhost is always 127.0.0.1

from a command prompt you should be able to ping localhost or 127.0.0.1
