Hi
My PC has a Win2000 Prof. Operating system , there was a .cpl virus infection on the system about 3weeks back after succesfully cleaning the virus from the system i had noticed the system time is getting changed after i reboot the system and the clock fuction is not showing up
and there is one more problem the Desktop properties is not showing up
help needed
what can i do?

Are u on a domain? if so then ask your admin about it as there may be a policy disabling your desktop & Time properties dialog boxes! Or first try your registry at:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PoliciesExplorer]
Value Name: NoViewContextMenu
If that is set to 1 then thats your problem. Set it 0 or delete it!
There r also tons of other policies that can be set so have a browse through them but do make sure you export the whole of your registry before you start playing!!!

Thanx for ur Reply TWPB

go to MS w2k powertoys site, get "tweakui" and install it... it'll allow you to "tweak" your user interface and restore the stuff you want...
