Not sure what happened just stopped shutting down. I have to do it manually. Any suggestions?

did you disable apm in the power management in the bios,
check the device manager and see what computer has under it, it should be a standard computer.
if you reenable apm in the bios, sometimes it will fix the problem, but other times you have to reinstall windows xp to get it shutting down.

If you had upgraded from win98 there is a setting you can change somewhere in the control panel. But this is only when you have upgraded to XP.

in my last message, replace apm with acpi (I still don't know if I have the letters correct, but it is close)

The should also be an APM (Advanced Power Management) tab within the display properties. Check as follows:

Right click desktop/Properties (will bring up Display Properties dialog)
Click Screen Saver, and then Settings button (in power options frame) at the bottom.
The power options will display and there should be a tab for APM. (if there is no tab, it will be in the bios as stated before)
Click APM and check the settings.

Hope this helps
