i use the Asus A7M266 motherboard. i have had 0 problems with it and just love working with it. It is really quick boot up too!

installation was a breeze!

Here are some that I've been looking at myself.

Asus A7V333 w/ raid133
Soyo Dragon Ultra w/ raid

Memory
Corsair XMS 2700 (3000 if you think you'll be overclocking to use it)

A cheap board that scored some of the best marks is the Gigabyte

try Motherboard combos at the following site

Does this work for ya? Jay [atom]

just built my first AMD machine myself.

AMD Athonl XP 1800+ $112
Gigabyte GA-7VRX using VIA KT333 chipset $80
256 MB DDR Kingston ValueRam $40

I thought the new machine was slow after the first couple of days playing games and such, then I replaced my Quantem 6 gig 5400RPM with a 20gig Western Digital 7200. This is one of the fastest machines I ever used. If you have any ??'s limeman@hotmail.com

One bad problem with motherboards with raid is on the Asus boards you may not be able to disable the raid should you not need it. It takes longer to boot becuase it looks for raid every time the computer starts up. If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

You would want to use the raid ports though. Considering the raid ports are ATA133, not to mention you get some pretty good performance hikes due to the ability to isolate drives on their own individual cables. I don't think boot time is a major issue anymore. I'm more worried about the actual running performance gain. But this is all personal preference for what its worth. Jay [atom]
