My Modem disappeared !!!

Hi,
I am using a laptop (Latitute c610),suddenly it doesn`t want to connect to the internet,trying to figure out what happened,it says (no Modem intalled),i don`t know what type of Modem i was using, i tried to make the machine find and search for the Modem on its own. but no use!!!..Any one could help please ............

Have you checked in device manager to see what it says about the modem.

Yes i checked the device manger but i found not showing any modems !!!!!
I tried to install a modem from the list, so i chose 3Com Manufac. and still not helping me to connect to the net!!!

How can i find my modem back????
Or how do i know the Manufacturer and the type of my modem again without opening the cover of the laptop????
Please help!!!!!

Since you have a Dell, try putting in the Dell Resource CD and the drivers for the modem should be on that CD. Try to force the drivers to go in, rather than using XP's native drivers.

Also, if the modem is in device manager, remove it and restart.
