I'm using Quark 6.1 to create a flyer. The images have a rastered look to them even though when I open them up in Photoshop CS they look fine. What can I do to correct this problem? They also print rastered looking from Quark.
Is it a preview/non-postscript problem? What happens when you create a PDF, how do the images look then? It might be an idea to read faq260-3087 if you're not clear on how Quark displays images.
Thanks so much for the help! I exported the quark document as a pdf, opened in Acrobat and saved as a post script file and then sent it to my post script printer. Images are beautiful. Thanks again
HP PostScript support for this printer in OSX is weak. You may not really be printing to PostScript. Acrobat is very forgiving with non-postscript printers in that it seems to process a lot more data before sending to the RIP (pre-RIP'ing, if you will). Acrobat may be treating the 500ps as a non-postscript printer.
If anyone learns more about better OSX postscript drivers for this model - announce it. I'm in the same boat.

Why is everyone in this forum responding to me as picklefish?
to my knowledge, when I bought this designjet, HP advised me that they would have drivers available for OSX in June of 04. That's right around the corner.
