I was creating an animated gif and I must of toggled an option which converted all me gifs to black and white when I preview them as an animated gif. Any help on how to revese this would be helpful. When I view as original they are in color, but under preview they are in black and white?

Most likely you selected "black & white" or "grayscale" in the Optimization box. This should be the box at the top right corner of Fireworks.

Very odd that the optimize settings you choose affect your active work space. I don't think it should?

In fireworks whatever you do in the optimization panel is reflected in the preview. It's really quite helpful because you can see the changes from the original work to the optimimized (preview).
