Any of you guys every seen a case where when MY COMPUTER is opened no local or network drives can be seen. Nothing at all?

When using windows explorer the local drive can be seen but thats it. I can access the network drives using the RUN command and manually map shortcuts.

Any help to resolve this wuld be appreciated.

Missing Drives in My Computer and Windows Explorer (Q191579)

Are the drives being hidden via Group Policy or something like TweakUI?

Is it the same for all your usernames or just a corrupt profile?

Some general things to try.

See if System Restore will get you back to a restore point before your problem with Explorer.

Try Safe Mode (Do you have this problem in Safe Mode?).

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking.

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

i had tried it in safe mode and another profile and the problem was the same. system restore also failed.

I ended up just re-rising this PC and running diagnostics on the hardware incase of any faults.

Thanks for your help guys.
