I am frustrated by the "My Computer" view settings. I want to have "My Computer" open with the display set to "Details" and "Folders". I try using "Like Current Folder" under the View settings, but next time I open it, the view has reverted to the default (large icons, no folders).

I have no problem setting the view for Explorer, but I can't do it for My Computer. I suspect I need to edit the Registry, but don't know where to find the settings.

Any help much apreciated.

Why not just click on view then details? I just tried it and it works for me.

BTW, what do you mean "Details" and "Folders"? Folders?

Just wondering.

"Why not just click on view then details?"

Life is much too short to go through all that each time My Computer opens!

I want it fixed, there must be a way!

MyTwoGirlsDad, "Details" and "Folders" are options in the "View" menu.

Hello TopHat2,

Try the following.
[1] Click out "My Computer" then set it to your preferred view.
[2] Hold down Ctr-key and mouse-click upper-right corner's close button.

No that did not work, and when I use "Custom, based on settings you use", the settings do not stick, it reverts back to "Clasic style".

Some one must know where the Registery keyys are that controle this stuff!
