My computer slows down 1

After I've been working awhile, my computer slows down and eventually locks. I'm using Windows Me. I tried to reinstall, but got an Error messase SU305 saying setup couldn't copy files to my computer. What can I do?

Change operating system? - your symptoms are very common with win9x/ME.

PS. How did you try to reinstall (from within ME or booting from ME install disk?). Also I've seen that SU message when there's a hardware problem (eg, bad memory etc).

check your startup list. MSCONFIG from Run. unselect everything but: task monitor, System tray, Load Power Profile (x2), PC Health, scan registry, and task monitor, along w/ any anitivirus program you have.
