Since I accedently removed some shared files during an uninstall procedure of CloneCD windows 2000 prof. can't find the right drivers for my cdrom and cdrw drive.
the drives are well reconized during boot.
I've tried everything (re-installing the hardware, installing windows 2000 over the first install removed and reconected the hardware) but nothing seems to help. I'm desperated. Can any one please help me.

Have you tried going to the websites of the cd-rom and
cd-rw manufacturers and downloading the drivers from their?

Yep I did but there are no driver availeble for windows 2000 because win2000 won't need them

I had that problem before, whenever i install Nero, my dvd-rom and my cdrw would disappeared. My only remedy is to either reinstall the OS or install another cdr program. Like Adaptec easy cd creator. Which seem to work for me.

we had a couple of users which had computers with cd/cdrw and the Roxio version of ezcd creator - when they upgraded their MS MediaPlayer they lost both the cd and cdrw - if this is a similar scenario to what u are experiencing go to roxio.com and check the support pages out, apparently this is not an uncommon problem.

Have you tried re-applying your service pack? If you try that and it prompts you about over-writing an OEM file, particularly atapi.sys, overwrite it. Or run it with an /o switch and it will overwrite them without prompting. Marc Creviere

I had this same thing happen to me after installing CD Creator. What I did was edit the registry by deleting all the upperfilters and lowerfilters that had anything to do with the sw itself. After this was done my cd and cdrw came back and I am now running CD creator without any problems.
If you are not knowledgeable enough, don't mess up with the registry and try reinstalling W2000.
