My CD rom light blinks but not reading 1

Hi my cd rom light blinks when i put the CD but not reading i just opened and cleaned th e glass(i suppose it is lens) and again when i try first time
it tried to read i heard the motor sound 3 or 4 times trying to start and stop after few seconds like that and after sometime again the same it used to stop.
can anybody what should i do is there anyway i can repair it??

what did you use to clean the lens? I had this and I had to strip the cdrom down and clean the lense with head cleaner. if still not reading is it more than one cd it won't read? if not then i suspect dodgy cd.
