Hello All,

IP office unit that I have in our office is completely dead now. We contacted our service provider and asked for an replacement but I don't think they can get it done fast enough.

We asked them to forward our phones to answering service but they haven't done it either and I bet it's gonna take a quite a bit of time.

Can you guys think anything else I can do at this moment? Is there any way to hookup traditional phone to get the calls at least? (I can have dedicated person who can take the calls and notify our team members so they can use their cellphone?

I just don't know what to do now (other than hating our current phone provider)

please help.

With out knowing any details about your setup and what type of lines you have your best option is to call your phone carrier your self and tell them your phone system is dead and you need your calls rerouted.

that's what I did jhall123. They are show and s*hitty

If you have POTS lines (versus a PRI or SIP) you could plug a plain old telephone into line 1 and take those calls.

Thanks for the answer guys

@Telecomboy we do have PRI :(

Since you have a PRI you are out of luck. There is no way to take calls with out that PRI being plugged into a PBX. Is your carrier and phone system vendor the same company?

The carrier should be able to forward your PRI calls while you are on the phone with them....at least that has been my experience with Windstream, Brighthouse, TW, and Verizon when I have helped out clients. This is a standard thing for carriers to do for emergency situations as this is.

Call any Avaya reseller in the area and see if any of them can help you with a new unit at a short term.

In this locale there's a $300.00 non fault redirection fee which presents on the next bill.

Thanks again for the answer guys.

@jhall123 Yes, same company. They are one of the biggest telecommunication provider in Canada but their tech support is horrible. We fought for it a lot in the past but they locked us down with a contract.

@tampasteve1 I'm glad to hear that some other companies are doing their job well. My provider was able to do it after 6 hours (regular work hour) downtime.

@intrigrant That's a good idea, let me give them a call to see if they lend any equipment

Now, my phones are on answering service but they left me with no ETA. I don't think they have new equipment in the stock either.

I have about 50 users running on this Avaya phone system and half of them requires phone to be able to work

pretty bad situation.

Just to make sure, you're absolutely sure the IPO is gone, no UPS failure or even a blown fuse?

Still, if you have a maintainance contract and they can't provide anything useful, I'd say that contract has been breached.
Not keeping emergency units in stock is pretty sloppy.

Kind regards

Gunnar

I am sure they have stock but didn't want to work late so close to Christmas.
A provider that size has also demo units and test units that they can swing out in case of an emergency.

Too bad I am in Ontario and can't hop in to give you a loaner from us.

Call some smaller companies in your area that are listed in the Avaya business partner list as authorized, they might be able to swing in within a couple of hours and get you up and running, for a fee of course but that is minuscule compared to the loss you have to endure being down.

Thank you so much for the support guys!

I just found local avaya reseller who is willing to give me IP Office 500v2 unit for about $150/week. I think I'm gonna go for it.

Do you guys think that can we easily swap the modules, SD Memory card and SIM card and get up and running quickly?

Does it need any kind of configuration recovery?

I'm also still waiting on my telecom company to provide an ETA. It's hard to believe that such a big company functions like this.

If it's just your control unit you should be able to swap the SD card, cards, and modules in to the new one.
Don't put the SIM card in the new one.
If they're not both IP500V2 then you're stuffed. You can tell by looking at the front left of the control unit. It'll say IP500 or IP500V2

Assuming the loaner has licenses all you need is the latest config to upload. If you have no config then yes, the unit will need to be configured for your needs. If the loaner has no licenses then you'll have no more than 8 PRI channels available. Still, better than 0.

If you have a IP500v2 then intall the modules as in the broken IP500v2, insert the SD card and power up, within five minutes it is up and running as if nothing happened. Attach all cables and you're ready to go for Christmas.
If you have a IP500 then do the same as above but there is a lot more to do, first when powered up you will have to factory default the unit, load the same software version you had and then load a backup config. If you are not a IP Office engineer then ask the reseller if they can assist, it will take a hour or maybe two to get it up and running.

Why not just buy a new unit from the Business Partner you got in touch with?
If the old one is truly busted, you need a new one anyway.
(And if you have 500v1 chassis "SIM card", they should be able to swap the licenses over to a SD card pretty quick)

Judging by your previous post, you have VMPro, CCR, Contact store and OXP running.
That's not exactly a sissy system you got there [smile]
It would be wise to have a more caring partner.

Kind regards

Gunnar
